A polygraph is commonly known as a lie detector, it is an instrument designed to measure physiological responses such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, and skin conductivity while an individual answers a series of questions. The underlying premise is that deceptive answers will produce physiological responses that can be distinguished from those associated with truthful answers.
